Here, your story is heard without judgment

Transforming mental healthcare

Wá jókòó is a Yoruba word that translates to “come and sit.” It’s an invitation to come into a space and be free to say what’s on your mind, without judgment. We provide purposeful, clinically, and culturally appropriate care. I incorporate mindfulness practices, dance movement therapy aspects, cognitive behavioral therapy, some dialectical behavior therapy, and solution-focused therapy.

A modern approach

Rather than do things the typical way, a system designed around our patients’ needs has been created. I take a solution-focused approach to therapy, so we use our bodies, voices, and minds to re-train our brains to tackle those persistent and unhelpful thoughts. Most importantly, I want you to feel better, truly feel better. Therapy is a journey that begins with you taking the first step onto a rocky road knowing the road will get smoother as you go along. You also have the option of walking as you engage in therapy. There is scientific research detailing the benefits of walking and mental health.

I provide individual therapy for most adults. I do see children up to age 17 on a case-by-case basis. Book a consultation to see if I have enough capacity.

Please note, that I am not currently contracted as an in-network provider with insurance panels. This means that I currently do not accept payment through insurance for ongoing counseling. Unless you have out-of-network benefits. If you would like to use your out-of-network benefits and like to bill your insurance, the rates are different. Please visit the service page to fill out your information, and I can check your out-of-network benefits and explain what that would mean for you. If you have a Health Savings or Medical Spending Account, it could be used for mental health services.

Additionally, I provide clinical supervision for new graduates of a counseling psychology program. I am a licensed supervisor through the Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy. I offer both individual and group clinical supervision (as long as there are enough people!). There has been a recent change with the BBHT (board of behavioral health and therapy) that indicates that supervision can be provided via telehealth now. I can supervise those who are pursuing an LPC or LPCC license.
